Rodzinna firma Sneeboer została założona w roku 1913 przez Arie Sneeboera. Po przybyciu do Grootebroek – małego miasteczka w północnej Holandii, rozpoczął on produkcję narzędzi ogrodowych ze stali węglowej. Teren ten obfitował w ogrody i szklarnie, w których uprawiano warzywa i kwiaty, Arie Sneeboer postawił sobie za cel tworzyć najlepsze narzędzia ogrodnicze dla lokalnej społeczności.
Rok później musiał opuścić firmę, aby walczyć w I wojnie światowej. Kiedy wrócił do kuźni, zaczął sprzedawać półprodukty – elementy narzędzi innym kowalom w pobliskich wioskach. Jego działalność rozkwitła, a rodzina rozrosła się do 10 dzieci!

Po długim okresie testowania, Sneeboer stał się pierwszą firmą produkującą ręcznie kute, nierdzewne narzędzia ogrodowe, o takiej samej wytrzymałości jak te ze stali węglowej.
W latach 80′ dwudziestego wieku stery w kuźni Sneeboer przejął wnuk Arie Sneeboera – Jaap Sneeboer wraz z żoną Wilmą.
